At the start of the week (Monday Sept 3), we will select a problem spot in Malmö that has been submitted by the community. A team at inUse will then spend a couple of days conducting research and prototyping design interventions for the spot in question.

The ‘80s was a magical decade. This thing called “personal computers” had just made it into the mainstream and many households had one.

By today's standards, these were extremely rudimentary devices. But, by extension, they were also very approachable. An aspiring developer could look at them and think "I can do that". And the tools – mostly BASIC – were there to make it a reality. But then… something happened.

In this workshop, Edument – who see it as their duty as technologists to make software creation easy, approachable and fun – will show a large number of new, beginner-friendly programming environments and let people try them out.

Summer, fall, winter and spring – it doesn’t really matter. The people of Malmö enjoy a good swim and a sweaty sauna session all year round. It something we do together, to relax, either naked or in our bathing suits. (The former is recommended but optional.)

Hosted by the human-centered AI consultancy 33A, this two-hour AI-Design Sprint will explores how you can add value to your products by adding AI

The process is borrowed from Google Ventures and let’s you work in a hands-on, fast-paced manner together with other interesting people.

You’ll start with a person and a story of the person using the product which you match with individual AI technology using our AI-Card Deck, you’ll test your visualized AI solution with real users, improve it and present it. You will work with the AI-Design Sprint Canvas that guides you through the entire process. The AI-Design Sprint is a great introduction to both, Artificial Intelligence and the Design Sprint methodology. No AI, technology or design background needed.

The Malmö-based beat collective So&Such welcomes you to an evening of unreleased music, nerdy production chats and interesting discussions about the terms and conditions of the contemporary music landscape – with a focus on our beloved Malmö.

The evening will start with a new edition of our recognized PASS THE AUX concept – creating a new platform for upcoming producers to highlight, discuss or just vibe with new unreleased ideas. It’s easy, if you’re a producer (or artist) with unreleased things that you would love to showcase in a context like this, bring your ideas on a USB or your phone and pull up.

PASS THE AUX will be followed by BEAT TALK – an interesting panel discussion regarding the opportunities and boundaries of being a music producer/artist, a music collective or any other part of the complicated music field in this day. Come join this session of Game of Threats, a digital game designed to simulate the speed and complexity of an actual cyber breach.

The solution integrates elements of gamification and game theory to provide an interactive experience where one team tries to defend itself from a believable cyber threat. During the course of the game, a healthy lunch will also be served to the players between the sessions.

The game forces players to make choices about how to attack (if playing the threat actor) and defend (if playing the hypothetical company at breach) with limited information and to balance investment in capability and responding to the other teams’ actions and plans. PwC moderators will facilitate a direct dialogue with clients about their choices during the game, as well as providing on the spot feedback about strategy and decision-making. This approach elevates the impact of Client investments in cybersecurity awareness through real-time feedback on their selected actions, and a discussion about alternate responses and their potential outcomes.

Most welcome to a seminar about the exciting opportunities of service design. For many people, User Experience Design (UX Design) is a rather known field as it is often used when designing things like digital screen interfaces. Service Design, on the other hand, is often non-tangible by nature.

Service Design Network Skåne want to discuss how service design can be used as a framework with tools to tackle complexity. Both when it comes to the actual execution of a project but also in bridging the gap between stakeholder perspectives when working together to create value.

The Service Design Network (SDN) is the platform to connect you with like-minded passionate service designers from companies, agencies and universities, and with curious innovators who embrace and apply this approach for the better of their organisations and for people.

K3 (School of Arts and Communication (K3) at Malmö University) are celebrating their 20-year anniversary with a sprawl of scholars and lecturers taking their respective work out into the city. This is chiefly to open up a dialogue with the people in Malmö about what is currently going on at K3, and also to show what a consistently strong bond K3 and the city of Malmö has had over the years.

At 2 pm K3 will arrange a guided tour that takes you through the various stations. The tour departs from Form/Design Center and lasts 2,5 hours. Included is a showcase of the following:

Susan Kozel, professor of interaction design and phenomonelogy, will show you her work with performance art and AR at the Form/Design Center.

Maria Hellström Reimer, professor of moving images, and Gunnel Petterson, lecturer in moving images, will host a discussion on “Constructive Utopias” at Fiskehamnsgatan (outside Malmö Live).

Staffan Schmidt, lecturer in art and design, and Sara Gottschalk, teacher in product design, will host a workshop called “Is this sustainable?” at Fiskehamnsgatan (outside Malmö Live)

Pille Pruulmaan Vengerfeldt, professor of media and communication, and Jakob Svensson, associate professor of media and communication, will host a workshop called “What does media do to us and what do we do to media?” on the sun deck outside of SVT.

Magnus Nilsson, assistant dean and professor of literary studies, will host a mini-lecture called “Gösta Larsson: the nation, the city, class and literature” on Einar Hansens esplanad 31.

Before we go to Far i Hatten to celebrate the evanescence of things in general (and the end of The Festival more specifically) later on at night, we thought it’d be rude not to have you lot over for a some unconditional after work cozyness at Media Evolution City, aka our very own HQ.

Everybody loves microcopy. Now that everyone agrees on content being a key part of any product, what do you actually do about it? Who does it, where is the framework around it, and when does it simply become UX?

Daresay Digital invites you to a interactive seminar that helps you go beyond the buttons and look more deeply at the “story” experience of your product.

Knowing what to write on a button is important, but too often, you get to the button and you realize that for the user to know what to do, you needed to tell them something three pages ago. In this workshop, you will learn how to get started thinking about the content in your products and build it into your process (this is the hardest part!), from concept development to the final “buy” buttons. And you'll get some actionable copy skills you can use, whether you're a professional writer or not.

This workshop is for designers, developers, writers, and anyone who wants to put better words into the world.

Sadly, it’s time to wrap things up. And what better way to do this than with a final fête together with all our friends from near and afar?
